‘Team Diamond’, the World Champion of NASA Space Apps Challenge 2022

The ‘Team Diamond’ of Bangladesh has become the world champion of NASA Space Apps Challenge 2022 after topping 31,000 competitors from 160 countries around the world. The team won this year's NASA Space Apps Bangladesh from Cumilla. Two more teams from Bangladesh – Dhaka division runners-up team Jantrik and Barisal’s champion: Prihim Pro. Won the competition's Honorable Mansions Award. Tisha Khandcar, a student of Daffodil International University, was the Captain of the Champion team. The other members of this five-member team were Munim Ahmed (UX designer) of the same university, Injamamul Haque Sonet (system architect), Abu Niaz (developer) and Zarin Chowdhury, a researcher of North South University. The team brought this honor by developing a star mapping video game so that children can easily identify the stars before they finish computer science and engineering. Twinkle-Twinkle Little Star Poem's obsession with the rhythm of the child's mind on the path to become an astronomer, these five young people were successful in this arrangement. Khaled Sohail, associate professor of software engineering department of Daffodil International University was the mentor to materialize of these youths' dreams. This result was published on the website of the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration-NASA Space Apps Challenge at 12:00 pm Bangladesh time on Friday. According to the published results, National Taiwan University Civil Engineering was the best in the Best Use of Science category in this list of 10 category champions among participants from four continents of the world.   The ‘Star Flock’ was awarded the best in Data Use; the ‘Team Earth’ and the ‘Wind and Flare’ was awarded in Art and Technology, Taming Particles in Best Use of Technology, Selen in Galactic Impact, Mars 3D Home in Best Mission Concept, MIMBI in Best Story Telling, Standard NCTU CS Students in Global Connection and Brute force in local impact. Two thousand 814 teams from 162 countries of the world participated in this competition. After all the scrutiny process, 420 teams from the world received global nominations for the international judging process this year. After all international judging process, only 35 teams made it to the 'Global Finalist' list. As the only Bangladeshi team in this list of 35 teams, Bangladesh's 'Team Diamonds' made it to the global finalists of NASA Space Apps Challenge-2022. Beating others, Bangladesh's 'Team Diamonds' became the World Champions of NASA Space Apps Challenge-2022. Last year, the team selected from Khulna, 'Team Saqan', beat 4534 teams from 162 countries around the world and won the 'NASA Best Mission Concept' category. They won the prize for inventing the 'ARSS-Advanced Regolith Sampler System' capable of controlling free-flowing dust during extraterrestrial missions. Tanveer Hossain Khan, organizer of the Bangladesh part of the NASA Space App Challenge and Director of BASIS, told DigiBangla that the winning team will be felicitated soon. He said that the teams who become 'Global Champions' got the opportunity to visit the headquarters of NASA in the United States. At that time they met senior NASA officials and scientists. Also got a chance to watch a NASA rocket launch live.
